Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Job Description

Shipping and Receiving/Material Coordination:

-Kits and stages production for welders and all others in the facility and supply them with all necessary supplies, fixtures, and pallets needed to complete staged jobs.

-Assists in ensuring all materials are unloaded from delivery trucks, verified for correctness, checked for damaged goods and materials transferred to their designated location or work station on a daily basis.

-Manages the movement, storage, and quality of incoming materials.

-Inventory maintenance duties include monitoring inventory levels; assisting with routine cycle counts; assist in maintaining the Kanban system; stocking production line.

-Conducts daily cycle counts of raw materials inventory.

-Prepare fabrications for shipping suppliers including but not limited to, palletizing, banding, wrapping, labeling, etc.

-Handles the needs of both plants for shared equipment/materials/kits/packing materials by picking up and delivering planned loads; issues to proper work orders.

-Assist in entering purchase orders for Kanban parts, emails PO’s to vendors.

-Assist in entering and closing work orders for fabricated Kanban parts.

-Completion of daily receiving entries into computer system.

-Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.

-Manages the engineering change order process within the facility assuring first in first out movement of materials.

-Uses 5S principles to maintain an orderly and safe workplace.

-May perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

-High School Diploma or equivalent

-Ability to read measurement devices such as tape measure, square(s), and other measuring devices as required

-Ability to use a computer to access ERP information, and other data systems that provide manufacturing information

-Ability to operate a forklift

-Valid Driver’s License

-Ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission

-Proficient in accessing, reading and interpreting engineering prints


-Previous experience welding in a manufacturing industry

-Previous experience with brake presses, welding, shipping and receiving.

-Ability to develop more specialized skills in such areas as welding, blueprint readings, machine operation

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

-Ability to lift, position, move, bend, flip parts in order to accomplish production goals that require loading, adjusting, turning, and removing small and large parts up to 60lbs

-Ability to occasionally lift greater than 75lbs with assistance

-Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, reach, lift, sit, in hot, cold, dusty, elevated, noisy area where foot and automated equipment movement, airborne, dust/fumes, and ultraviolet light are present
