Why Do Drywallers Love Hy-Brid Lifts?

02/09/2022

Drywalling is hard work, why let your machine make it tougher? Standard scissor lifts are far from optimal machines for use in these applications. Their bulky frames and lack of platform capacity can make work more difficult, all while increasing injury risk. See why many drywallers are turning to Hy-Brid Lifts as a safer, more productive solution.

Easy Platform Loading

Drywall panels are heavy. Standard sheets can weigh up to 60 lbs, and workers must lift them several feet off the ground when loading onto a standard scissor lift. Do this for 40 plus hours per week and you may see some gains in your upper body strength, but the strain of constant lifting can also lead to serious injury. Hy-Brid Lifts are compact, low-level machines. The PS-1030 stands only 68.3 in tall when stowed yet allows for a working height up to 16 ft. In most cases, this will be plenty of height to reach the work area, all while greatly reducing worker strain when loading.

Overhead Crush Protection

Falls are not the only injury risk when operating a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP). Overhead crush is extremely dangerous, especially for indoor applications. Should a lift elevate to the height of a ceiling or overhang, it may pin the worker and crush them while continuing to move higher. The easiest way to eliminate this issue is by using smaller lifts. 90% of indoor contracting work can be done with lifts smaller than the standard 19 ft lift. Our PS-1030 and PS-1430 scissor lifts reduce the risk of overhead crush while exceeding industry standards for platform capacity so operators can work safer and get more done.

2 Person Rated

All Pro-Series lifts are rated for two operators on indoor applications. This is particularly useful for drywallers. Sheets of drywall are large, heavy, and unwieldy, a difficult task for anyone to handle alone. These Hy-Brid Lifts are rated for two occupants and have the platform capacity to match. Most standard scissor lifts can only elevate 500 lbs, which isn't much more than the weight of two workers. Add in heavy sheets of drywall and you may soon find yourself exceeding that limit. Not only does the Pro Series PS-1030 elevate up to 800 lbs, but these lifts are also equipped with live load-sensing on the upper controls, informing operators what percentage of platform capacity is available. Never worry about overloading the platform again. Hy-Brid Lifts makes it easy to get workers where they need to be.

Tool Holder & Parts Tray

Drywall panels take up a lot of space on the work platform, leaving little room for other tools and equipment. Not only does this make your job harder at height, but it also increases injury risk for those on the ground. Tools that fall from a scissor lift can cause serious injury if they strike another worker. All of our lifts are equipped with a heavy-duty tool holder to keep drills and other tools in place and easily accessible. You won't have to juggle or strain to keep yourself organized. Let our lifts keep your tools in place so you can focus on getting the job done.
